At first, King Midas was overjoyed with his new power and began to turn everything he could find into gold. However, he soon realized that this power was more of a curse than a blessing. He could no longer hug his daughter, who turned to gold as soon as he touched her. He could not eat or drink anything, as his food and drink turned to gold as soon as it entered his mouth. He was now a prisoner in his own palace, surrounded by his wealth, but unable to enjoy it.


King Midas became very miserable and began to pray to Dionysus to take back his gift. Dionysus heard his pleas and told him to go to the river Pactolus and wash his hands. When King Midas did so, his touch lost its power and everything he had turned to gold turned back to its original form. King Midas was overjoyed and learned that wealth and material possessions were not the key to happiness.


From that day on, King Midas lived a simple life, appreciating the small things in life and spreading joy and happiness wherever he went. He never again wished for wealth or power and lived the rest of his life as a wise and happy king.

It teaches us that happiness and contentment come from within and cannot be bought with wealth or material possessions.
