Belur Math

Headquarter of the Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math (otherwise known as Belur Mutt) is situated close to the Hooghly River and spread crosswise over forty sections of land. Combination of Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist and Christian styles of engineering, the Math stands glad as an image of secularism. A visit to the Belur Math fills one's soul with satisfaction and harmony.

The Math complex involves what, for the absence of a superior word, must be called sanctuaries. It comprises further of exhibition halls, a hallowed place, and a cloister. Following are the subtleties:
Sri Ramakrishna Temple – Enshrining the relics of Sri Ramakrishna, this is the principal sanctuary in the Belur Math.

Swami Brahmananda Temple – This sanctuary was worked over the spot where Swami Brahmananda (one of the sixteen pupils of Sri Ramakrishna) was incinerated.

Swami Vivekananda Temple – It is developed over where mortal survives from Swami Vivekananda was incinerated.

Samadhi Enclosure – Here the remaining parts of seven out sixteen supporters of Swami Vivekananda were incinerated.

Blessed Mother Temple or the Temple of Sri Sarda Devi

Old Shrine – Here day by day supplications were offered till the new sanctuary (Ramakrishna Temple) was blessed.

Room of Swami Vivekananda – This is where Swami Vivekananda lived and achieved Mahasamadhi.

Ramakrishna Museum – The historical center jelly and shows articles that were utilized by Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and Holy Mother Sri Sarda Devi.

The spot is not the same as some other spot of love where one is required to simply sit and think. There is no formal offering made, no blooms or desserts put on offer. The quiet that encompasses the spot is the most vital element of the Belur Math.

Visiting hours (Belur Math):

April to September: six am to 11:30 am, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
October to March: 6:30 am to 11:30 am, 3:30 pm to six pm
Each night an extraordinary ringer is rung when the aarti starts and after that, the guests should sit inside the primary Sri Ramakrishna Temple and not permitted to dillydally around.
April to September: 8:30 pm
October to March: 8:00 pm

Visiting hours (Ramakrishna Museum):

Morning: 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Night: 4 pm to 6 pm (April to September), 3:30 to 5:30 (October to March)
