Destination Kalimpong

Kalimpong is a small beautiful city, about 1200 meters above sea level. A district of Jalpaiguri division in the state of West Bengal, India. The distance from Darjeeling to Kalimpong is only 50 kilometers. In the past Kalimpong, the city was very important for trade between India and Tibet.

In Tibet, the word 'Kalon' means 'Raja's minister' and 'Pong' means 'meeting' means Kalimpong means the meetings of the ministers of the king. Distance from Kolkata to Kalimpong is 646 kilometers. Darjeeling Mail travels to New Jalpaiguri station every evening at 7pm from Calcutta Station, Kolkata. It takes 12 hours to reach New Jalpaiguri station from  Shields. Buses, minibusses, and jeeps from New Jalpaiguri to Kalimpong are available. It takes about three hours to reach Kalimpong from New Jalpaiguri station. If you want to go to Kalimpong by bus directly from UltraDanga bus terminal in Kolkata.

The nearest airport in Kalimpong is located in Bagdogra adjacent to Siliguri. And the distance from Bagdogra to Kalimpong is about 70 kilometers. Flights and flights from Kolkata and Delhi regularly to Bagdogra.
